That a camera can be thought of as a weapon has been done before.  Indeed, we use the terminology of firearms: load, cock, shoot.  Referring to the nature of the camera, I believe the elegance of the medium lies in its flexibility.  Cameras can be used to change the world or just for fun.  Pictures are quiet and powerful, boring and frivolous, enticing and complex, and any number of other things.  Any tool so flexible must be thought of as elegant.
